Istanbul Earthquake - 23 April 2025
Istanbul -
Turkey has been hit by 3 consecutive earthquakes, today, around noon.
The first is of 3.9 magnitude and hit the coast of the Silivri district at 12:13 local time (10:13 BST)
The second is of 6.2 magnitude and hit the same area at 12:49 (10:49 BST)
The third quake of 4.4 magnitude in Istanbul's Buyukcekmece district hit at 12:51 local time (10:51 BST)
There are no reports yet of any damage or injuries, by local authorities.
All our tours are safe and unaffected, but today the museums in Istanbul will stay closed
No injuries or damage to buildings have been reported and all G Adventures guests are safe and accounted for.
We are continuing to monitor the situation and we will post updates as necessary.
Iceland Volcano
1st April 2025 - Reykjavik - Iceland Volcano Eruption
A volcano has erupted on Iceland's Reykjanes Peninsula after the evacuation of Grindavík and the Blue Lagoon.
The eruption began around 09:45 local time, following earlier earthquakes in the Sundhnúk crater area. Within an hour, a 700m crack had opened. Roads to the town are closed, but flights remain unaffected.
No G Adventures tours are currently impacted, but we will post updates as necessary.
Türkiye Protests
Friday 21 March 2025 - Istanbul
Türkiye is currently experiencing on going protests across the country following the arrest of a prominent political figure. There are reports of police barricades and there is currently a ban on public gatherings. Arrests have been made as a result of social media posts. Taksim Square in Istanbul, is currently closed to all traffic.
Protests are mostly occurring in remote neighbourhoods and at night. No G Adventures trips have been affected so far.
G Adventures CEOs are advising all guests to stay alert and to avoid large gatherings or areas where protests are taking place. We are also advising guests to monitor their government travel advisories,
G Adventures will continue to monitor this situation and we will post updates as necessary. .
Statement concerning incidents of suspected methanol poisoning in Laos

Following the tragic deaths of six tourists in Laos due to suspected methanol poisoning, G Adventures can confirm that all of its travellers are safe and well.
The safety of our travellers is our top priority. Our Chief Experience Officers always brief travellers on best practices to keep them safe while in South East Asia. We are advising guests to never never accept any free drinks and to avoid cheap cocktails and
non-brand alcohol. Our Chief Experience Officers will only recommend trusted establishments to travellers.

Marburg Virus Outbreak - Rwanda

Marburg Virus Outbreak
The Marburg Virus outbreak is being closely managed by the Rwandan Ministry of Health with support from the World Health Organization and the Africa CDC.
While efforts to contain the virus are ongoing, the majority of cases have been isolated in hospitals in Kigali. However, infection control measures are in place throughout the country
The safety of our travellers and staff will always be our top priority. The following precautionary measures are being taken:
- Temperature checks are being conducted at all borders during arrival and departure.
- At Volcanoes National Park Headquarters, masks are required before and during trekking activities.
- In Akagera National Park, temperature checks are in place.
- Sanitization stations are available in all areas across the country.
- CEOs have been instructed to inform guests during the welcome meeting about the latest situation and the safety measures in place, ensuring everyone understands and remains cautious.
- Tour vehicles are stocked with adequate hand sanitizers for use throughout the trip.
- Table reservations are being made at all hotels and lodges..
- Travellers participating in Gorilla Guardians village activities are requested not to join in shared cultural dressing during dances and other activities.
- For gorilla trekking and golden monkey activities, we are rebooking family groups before the trek to ensure travellers trek together exclusively where possible.
- Our CEOs are monitoring all travellers closely and will report any concerns immediately for swift follow-up.

Myanmar / Thailand Earthquake. - 28 March 2025
28 March 2025
A 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar with tremors felt in Bangkok around 13:15 (local time)
The Earthquake Observation Division reported that the quake, with a depth of 10 kilometres, occurred at 1.20pm in Mandalay, Myanmar.
The Meteorological Department said the tremors were felt in many parts of Thailand, including Bangkok.
People in the capital evacuated buildings, as businesses announced temporary closures due to the quake.
Authorities are assessing the damage and monitoring for aftershocks. A high-rise building under construction in Chatuchak district, Bangkok, collapsed due to the quake. More updates will share shortly. There have been aftershocks in Myanmar but these have not been felt in either Bangkok or Chiang Mai.
All G Adventures Travellers are safe and accounted for and we will continue to monitor the situation and pst updates as necessary.
Cuba Blackouts
21 October 2024 - Cuba Electricity Blackouts
Cuba has been experiencing intermittent power outages over the last few days, which are disrupting daily life and affecting essential some essential services. The Cuban Government is working to find solutions to address the power supply challenges, but this may take some time.
Currently, we do not have any groups in Cuba. We will have groups again under the following codes:
There are no current G Adventures trips being affected but we are monitoring the situation for upcoming trips.
We will continue to assess the situation and we will update as necessary.
Nepal Flooding - October 2024
Update for Everest Base Camp Trek - Dossier Code ANEA
The highway from Kathmandu to Manthali has been severely affected after last week’s extreme weather. This has resulted in necessary changes to the ANEA itinerary while local authorities work to fix the problem.
Our operations teams are currently working on alternative arrangements and notifications will be sent out to affected clients in the coming days.
